“We Did It Before, And
We Are Doing It Again…”

The Race Against Time.

Intro, How It Started.

In the mid-80s Chris Long was outraged that politicians and policymakers would not act fast enough to help save the victims of the African famine. On May 25th, 1986 at 15:00 GMT, 19.8 million people in 89 countries took part in his event – Sport Aid and the Race Against Time. They ran 10k through their towns, villages and cities to deliver a petition of blistered feet to the doorstep of the United Nations in New York. They demanded action for the people of Ethiopia and Sudan – and they got it. US$35 million was raised on the day and US$150m of African debt was cancelled at a UN Special Session that followed.

We Must Do It Again.

A Race Against Time For Our Planet.

36 years on Chris wants us to do it again for our planet. In 2020 he wrote a book, ‘I RAN THE WORLD’. It explained how Sport Aid happened before the internet, email, mobile phones and social media. It challenged young people to pick up the Sport Aid torch for climate change and set out a blueprint for a new global event for our digital era. That event is Get2Cop.

You Can Affect The World You Live In!

Helping Make It Happen.

The Team.

Get2Cop is rooted in the village of Harlington, Bedfordshire. Chris Long and fellow resident, Andrew Asbury decided the climate crisis needed urgent action now. They picked up the torch together and Get2Cop was born in January 2022. A team of people, companies, supporters and volunteers have raced against time to get it to this stage.

A very special thanks to all these companies and organisations without whom Get2Cop would not have been possible.
